Welcome to the conversation

Welcome to an ongoing conversation in the Kuna community and beyond about faith that matters in real life. I’m Randy Maxwell and I pastor the Seventh-day Adventist church in Kuna. But that’s not important. What is important is who you are, who God is, and the conversation He wants to have with all of us.

Many people are burned out by church, but still crave an understanding of the spiritual world. Everyday struggles to hold on to our homes, keep a job, educate our children, hold a marriage together, take care of an aging parent, or just keep gas in our vehicles leave us stressed and worried. What happens on Wall street, Pennsylvania avenue, or in Bagdad, only adds to the overall feeling that all is not well. Life seems fragile, uncertain, and out of control. What, if anything, does God have to say about it? Is faith relevant today? Is there a place for belief? Belief in who? in what?

Can we tallk?

That’s what Community Conversations is–an opportunity to talk about how faith intersects life in relevant ways that make sense. And if we don’t all agree, that’s OK. It’s engagement we’re looking for. An opportunity to share ideas and discuss issues and hopefully to learn from each other and grow towards understanding.

This month’s topic is: “Robert Manwill—Is God to Blame?” Our presenter is Pastor George Sova. Pastor Sova gave the eulogy for little Robert and will share his thoughts not only about the Manwill case, but his thoughts about suffering in general. Read the post in “conversations” and jump in. And if you missed the live web cast, you’ll be able to view the recorded program on this site and then blog away.

Again, welcome to the conversation. Your input is always welcome. –Randy
